PEDIATRIC CARE SERVICES
Learn why patients choose us.
At Heart to Heart Pediatrics we offer primary care treatment for patients from birth through age 20. We focus on the child as a whole, taking a holistic approach when possible, but still recognizing the need for medicine. We strive to start early with prevention to avoid health issues later on. We work with specialists at Mercy Children’s Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital with consultations and referrals.

SICK VISITS
Is your child visibly ill or complaining they are not feeling well? Having a sick child can be a worrisome experience for any parent. When childhood illnesses arrive, it is important to be prepared by having a local pediatric provider who can provide thorough and expedient care so that your child can heal and improve quickly.
Here at Heart to Heart we offer same day sick appointments for most acute illness. We have trained pediatric clinical staff to answer any of your questions, give you medical advice, and triage your child’s symptoms. We offer in-office testing including RSV, influenza, strep, and COVID rapid testing. We are also able to provide PCR testing for COVID.
WELL VISITS
Heart To Heart Pediatrics follows the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended schedule of well visits for your child starting at birth up until age 20. Well visits are beneficial for:
- Prevention. Your child is offered immunizations to prevent illness. You also can ask your pediatric provider about nutrition and safety in the home and at school.
- Tracking growth and development. See how much your child has grown in the time since your last visit and talk with your pediatric provider about your child’s development. You can discuss your child’s milestones, social behaviors, and learning.
- Raising concerns. Make a list of topics you want to talk about with your child’s pediatric provider such as development, behavior, sleep, eating or getting along with other family members.
- Team approach. Regular visits create strong, trustworthy relationships among pediatric provider, parent, and child. The AAP recommends well-child visits as a way for pediatric providers and parents to serve the needs of children. This team approach helps develop optimal physical, mental, and social health of a child.
MENTAL HEALTH
Jaime provides a unique service to our patients, understanding both the pediatric mental health and primary care aspects, which gives our patients top-notch, comprehensive mental health care. The mental health of a child is critical and lays the foundation in which future mental and physical health builds upon. Instilling adequate coping skills, promoting healthy self-esteem, and reinforcing the concept that positive belief turns into positive feelings and behaviors are critical components in that process.
Sometimes though, children struggle and as parents, we struggle with how to help them. Jaime offers diagnosis and management options for common childhood mental health struggles and disorders, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, autism, and behavioral concerns.
Typically, in mental health, changing behaviors includes changing how one thinks about the situation. This may involve referrals for psychotherapy, but in certain situations, Jaime also offers a manualized 7-session cognitive behavioral program, Creating Opportunities for Personal Empowerment (COPE). The team approach doesn’t stop with us or you as parents, as it may also involve a wide variety of resources such as those within the school, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and medical specialists, to which referrals may be provided.
Finally, medication isn’t always necessary but when it is, prescribing and medication monitoring may be part of the treatment process. Utilizing a comprehensive team approach, “every child is a story yet to be told”.
